Colour that transforms your garden in seconds
Our colour changing outdoor lights are perfect for when you simply can’t decide on one look. They subtly shift shades in a slow, mesmerising sequence.
Whether you’re styling a relaxed patio, adding a playful twist to a party, or giving your garden a seasonal lift, colour-changing lighting can enhance your outdoor ambiance.
Choose your effect: colour cycle, ‘just white’, or colour stop
Love the movement of changing colour? Let your lights fade through the spectrum for a soft, atmospheric finish. Want something more curated? Some of our colour changing solar lights include a ‘just white’ mode and a colour stop feature, so you can choose your favourite shade and keep it on all evening.
If you’re after a fixed multicolour look (rather than cycling modes), note that colour changing lights are not the same as static multi coloured outdoor lights.
Solar, mains or battery: pick what suits your space
Colour-changing lights can work brilliantly across the garden, but the right power option makes all the difference to day-to-day ease:
- Solar lights are cable-free and quick to place. They perform best after a full day of sun to charge, making them a great choice for brighter spots.
- If your garden is shaded, or you want a more consistent output, we carry mains and battery powered alternatives as well.
This means you can get the look you want, whether you’re lighting a sunny border, a covered pergola, or a cosy corner that doesn’t catch much daylight.
Where colour-changing lights look best
Use colour as a styling tool, not just illumination. A few easy ideas:
- Patios & seating areas: create a “chill zone” with slow colour fades, then switch to ‘just white’ when you want a calmer, candlelit feel.
- Pergolas & fences: outline the structure to add height and depth.
- Trees & shrubs: weave lights through greenery for a magical, floating effect, especially effective with gradual colour transitions.
- Path edges & feature corners: use colour to draw attention to your favourite spots and guide the eye through the garden.
Styling tips for a more premium look
A little planning goes a long way:
- Layer your lighting: keep colour-changing lights as your “feature”, then add warm white lighting elsewhere for balance.
- Stick to one main colour zone: it feels more intentional than having every area shifting at once.
- Match the mood to the moment: colour cycle for parties, colour stop for themed nights, and ‘just white’ for everyday ambience.
