Make Your Own Hanging Glass Terrariums - In 4 Easy Steps

Terrariums have become increasingly popular within interior décor, since they’re a great way to add a natural touch, without taking up too much room and with minimal maintenance, making them perfect for both home and office decoration. You can use natural elements to decorate your terrarium, such as sand, soil, pebbles and succulents. Or if, like us, you’d like the visual effect, but none of the hassle of taking care of your micro garden, you can use artificial alternatives.

Here's how to do it ... What you’ll need:

• 1 x rustic plank of wood - ours measures 42cm x 10cm
• 4 x wrought iron hooks with screws
• 1 x drill / screwdriver
• 4 x glass terrarium tealight holders
• Decoration for inside the terrariums – we chose natural white aquarium gravel and artificial moss

1. First, place your hook onto the wood, making sure it's in the perfect position. If you like, at this point, you can measure and mark out the position you would like each of hooks to be – we just did this by eye. 2. Next, use a manual screwdriver to secure your screw in place. Then, simply because it’s easier, use a drill or electric screwdriver to fully screw the hooks into position. Repeat this process for each of your hooks. 3. Now you’re onto the fun bit - decorating your terrariums with your chosen fillings! We started with covering the base of the terrarium with the aquarium gravel, and then placed the artificial moss on top of this. Repeat this for all four terrariums. 4. Now your DIY is almost complete! All that’s left for you to do is find the perfect wall on which to secure your masterpiece, hang the terrariums onto the iron hooks and away you go! And there you have it, your very own hanging glass terrarium decoration, perfect in any room of the house to add low maintenance greenery. Although the terrariums looked beautiful as they were, we chose to add a couple of LED tealights too, since they are tealight holders after all!
